About Marie
I was born in Centerville, Iowa. I moved to Wyoming when I was 14 years old with my mother and father, Jay and Juanita Main as well as three younger sisters.
I graduated from Glenrock High School and then went to Wyoming Beauty College. I have worked here in Casper since my graduation in 1962.
I have always been an artist. From the time I was in grade school, I have always excelled in art. This was even before I had any structured lessons. I create art from my heart, not a camera. I turn my visions into reality. Ultimately, my artwork is taken from my mind and soul. I take pride in doing research and creating a piece of artwork with individuality.
I studied under Anadeen Creel in watercolor and from her teachings learned to handle it quite well. With a college course by Richard Jaobi as well as workshops by Fred Hudson and Klick Sorenson, I have learned a lot of different techniches. I also attended a few workshops in oil by Tom Leopp, Carol Sweeney, and Conrad Swearing. These people encouraged me to keep practicing and improving. I increased my skill again by attending a workshop in pastel by Betty Downing whose talent I admire. I prefer to use this technique when working with people or portraits.
I enjoy the Wyoming Game and Fish compeition for the stamp of the year. I have represented at the Petroleum Club for the last six years with the honor of being voted the Wyoming Western Artist by their members. The Casper Star Tribune has published my winning paintings from the Wyoming State Fair and Natrona County Fair for the last six years. I also have my works in private collections throughout Wyoming. I have presented in Washington D.C. representing Wyoming in the Congressional Office.
I enjoy the business of selling my art at the Marie Bramson Art Gallery which is located at the Sunrise Shopping Center and can now be accessed on the internet at www.mariebramson.com.
